This zone is reserved strictly for items that have a guaranteed purpose or a designated spot in your new home right away.

  • The Criteria: Everyday clothing, daily kitchen tools, and items you have used within the last six months.

  • The Golden Rule: If you are hesitating or saying, “I might use this someday,” it does not belong in this box. Moving heavy items you rarely use costs extra time and effort. Keep this category lean.

Box 2: The “Donate / Sell” Box (Lighten the Load)

This is your ticket to a lighter, cheaper move. Dropping off gently used household goods at a local Island charity shop or listing them online is a great way to ensure they get a second life rather than heading to the Waste Management Facility.

  • The Criteria: Clothes that no longer fit, duplicate kitchen appliances, read books, and decor that will not match the aesthetic of your next place.
